LAHAINA (HawaiiNewsNow) - A detached church bell rang out through Lahaina Friday, honoring the 102 lives lost two years ago due to the Maui wildfires.

The bell had been part of Waiola Church on Wainee Street, which burned down during the wildfires.

The flames left the bell unscathed.

Church members spent the second anniversary of the tragedy reading out all 102 names of the victims.

“We are here for the families that are left behind for their loss and their healing process,” said church member Kahu Anela Rosa.

“Even though it’s been two years, for me personally, it’s fight or flight,” said Anastasia Arao-Tagayuna, a wildfire survivor. “And I’m still flying.”

The Waiola Church’s congregation now has services once a month under a tent, and there’s no timeline for its rebuilding.
