DETROIT LAKES — Things are going well at WE Fest this year — the country music festival in Detroit Lakes has signed the red-hot Lainey Wilson as a 2026 headliner, and as of Friday evening, at least, the Soo Pass Ranch camping venue had dodged the worst of the thunderstorms moving through the area.

“We’re very excited about Lainey Wilson,” WE Fest owner-producer Matt Mithun said in an interview.

“And we got lucky last night,” he said on Friday. “We watched the weather real closely — a lot of our crew and the sheriff's office were up until about 7 a.m. Fortunately, it died down.” WE Fest kept campers at Soo Pass Ranch informed throughout the night via social media updates —things like “here’s what we’re tracking, and tips on how to stay safe,” he said.
