Nature lovers, dog walkers and families have slammed a decision to close the Wyken Slough car park during the school holidays. They say signs at the entrance on Alderman's Green Road were changed without any consultation.
Facebook messages suggested it would be reopened and that park rangers from Warwickshire Wildlife Trust (WWT) who oversee the area were unaware it had been closed. But with the main school holidays in full swing, it remains bolted.
Andrea Hartley is one of those campaigning for the barrier to be lifted so the nature reserve can be enjoyed once again. On the WWT website it states that Wyken Slough is one of the largest areas of grassland in Coventry and represents an important ‘green lung’ within the city.
