MEMPHIS, Tenn. - An officer who crashed his police SUV into a parked car and flipped it in the parking lot of a southeast Memphis apartment complex will not be cited, the department confirmed Thursday.

Memphis Police (MPD) said that the officer won't receive a ticket because "the incident occurred on private property." The department added that what led to the crash was still under investigation.

The crash was reported just before 5 p.m. Tuesday at the MAA Southwind apartments on Cart Path Lane. MPD said the officer was driving through the complex when he hit two curbs, a tree and then the parked car.

MPD also said the officer was not responding to an emergency at the time of the crash.
