While Kenner's historic Rivertown neighborhood flourishes with new restaurants and events , its levee has remained blemished for decades by the shredded dock that's been out of commission since Hurricane Katrina.
But that may soon change, as an expanding cruise line eyes the spot as a new stop on its Mississippi River cruise.
American Cruise Lines, a small-ship domestic cruise company based in Delaware, seeks to expand its Louisiana footprint with a new docking facility in Rivertown, near LaSalle's Landing at the end of Williams Boulevard.
The Kenner City Council will vote to approve an agreement with the company at its next meeting on Aug. 22. The agreement says the company would clear out a demolished dock on the levee and build a new one in its place.
