SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - The Shreveport Police Department is warning people that they’re seeing an uptick in vehicle thefts and burglaries in certain parts of the city.
On Monday, Aug. 11, the police department posted on Facebook saying over the past 90 days, police have seen a rise in vehicle thefts and burglaries in the Highland neighborhood and the Shreveport-Barksdale corridor.
Police say they’re mostly seeing cases involving cars left unlocked. Many of the cars that are reported stolen had the keys left in them, police say. A number of cars targeted were Kias and Hyundais without updated anti-theft software. Those committing the crimes are suspected to be mostly juveniles, police added.
