SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - An 11-year-old boy is dead after he accidentally shot himself in the chest.

On August 9, at 9:30 p.m., the Shreveport Police Department (SPD) was sent to the 500 block of West 74th Street for a reported shooting. When they got there, they found out that a gunshot young victim had been taken to a hospital by private vehicle.

Attempts to save the child failed, and he was pronounced dead.

During the investigation, officers questioned the victim’s brother and asked him what happened. The brother said they were cleaning out his grandmother’s house when he heard a bang from another room. When he went to see what had happened, he found his brother on the floor suffering from a gunshot. He picked him up and brought him to a nearby hospital.
