ON THIS DAY IN 1873 , the Brooklyn Daily Eagle reported, “Yesterday the Centennial Exposition plans for buildings were reported upon by the Committee. They selected ten of them, six of which prove to have been submitted by Philadelphia architects, one is from Wheeling, one from New York (Mr. Vaux, formerly of the Prospect Park landscape architects), one from Terre Haute and one from Washington. These plans will be returned to their authors for a second competition.”
