A pregnant woman and her unborn child are dead after Florida Highway Patrol investigators said she was hit and killed by a pickup truck while walking down Normandy Boulevard late Friday night.

Investigators said the 34-year-old woman was walking east in the inside travel lane of Normandy Boulevard around 10:50 p.m. Friday when she turned around to cross the road.

The woman crossed into the path of a moving pickup truck, according to investigators, and the truck hit her.

She was taken to UF Health where she and her unborn child later died, investigators said.

The 74-year-old man driving the truck was uninjured.

FHP is still investigating the circumstances leading to the crash.
