COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - A Colorado Springs police officer was unharmed after a driver slammed into their patrol car on the interstate early Saturday morning.

The officer had been on traffic duty after a work vehicle lost its load shortly before 4 a.m., spilling bricks and concrete all across the southbound lanes of I-25 between Fillmore and Garden of the Gods.

“The officer was driving a marked patrol car and had their emergency equipment activated in order to slow traffic and warn drivers of the hazards,” a CSPD lieutenant said. “The officer was blocking the left and center lanes with their vehicle and was outside the vehicle.”
