FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ohio — An Ohio man pleaded guilty this week to federal charges involving dog fighting and methamphetamine possession, the Department of Justic announced .

Joel Brown, 38, admitted to possessing and training dogs for fighting purposes and to possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute. Court documents say Brown kept 11 pit bull-type dogs at his Franklin County home, housing the dogs in a manner typical of organized dogfighting operations. The dogs were chained with heavy tow chains connected to tire axles buried in the ground, placed just out of reach of each other but within eyesight, according to the DOJ.
