Police have moved to quell online speculation and social media rumours after two men were injured during a town centre stabbing attack on Saturday morning (August 9).
The two men suffered minor injuries and a man has been arrested.
The Manchester Evening News understands they suffered slash-type injuries that are not life-threatening or life-changing.
A man was 'quickly' arrested on suspicion of assault at the scene in Wigan town centre and remained in police custody on Saturday afternoon for questioning, police said.
Greater Manchester Police , however, said the force was 'aware of concerns and posts online speculating about the nature' of the incident.
