Tim Walz should not run for a third term as Minnesota governor, even though he has done an excellent job.
Under Walz’s leadership, Minnesota has impressively instituted paid family and medical leave, free school meals, protections for women’s and LGBTQ rights and protections against gun violence. That includes banning binary triggers, which North Dakota wouldn’t do despite the frightening mass shooting in Fargo two years ago. I’m told Walz is a good and decent man.
However, Walz is probably not electable. He only received 52% of the vote when he was re-elected in 2022. Now, a recent poll conducted by the Minnesota Star Tribune and the Hubbard School of Journalism and Mass Communication found that Walz’s approval rating is down to just 49%.
