LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the shots fired near downtown Louisville bus stops on the first day of class for Jefferson County Public Schools.

Louisville Metro Police said they arrested the juvenile on Aug. 8 in connection with the Aug. 7 incident near the 1000 block of West Chestnut Street.

LMPD said that around 8 a.m., someone fired shots and then left the scene.

He has been charged with 33 counts of first-degree wanton endangerment and one count of possession of a handgun by a minor. His name is not being released.

At the time of the shooting, several children were at bus stops in the area, police said.

“This reckless act endangered lives and will not be tolerated,” said LMPD.
