Mostly clear skies and dry weather conditions, with lessening wind, are expected over the Beulah Fire area through the weekend, with temperatures a few degrees below normal, fire officials said.

The fire that began Thursday had grown to 1,700 acres by Saturday morning, and 184 personnel were engaged in “full suppression” of the fire burning in the High Unitas Wilderness in the Evanston-Mountain View Ranger District of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest.

Fire officials said the winds are forecast to gradually weaken, becoming light and terrain-driven on Sunday. The vegetation in the area is extremely dry with fuel moisture conditions at critically low levels, and firefighters are observing erratic and extreme fire behavior, they said.
