The recall of cinnamon bun desserts produced by the Michigan-based Superior Foods Company has been given a Class II classification by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration ( FDA ) on Friday.

The recall was in response to fears the desserts could have been contaminated with plastic.

Newsweek contacted the Superior Foods Company for comment on Saturday via email outside of regular office hours.

Why It Matters

A Class II risk classification (one of three) refers to a situation in which the "use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote," according to the FDA.
