CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. -- A Georgia woman forgave her husband's killer and in an emotional moment, hugged him in court.
Regina Johnson embraced Joseph Tillman.
He's the man who killed her husband, Chuck Johnson, in a hit-and-run.
She told him she forgives him and that God loves him. She says he whispered back, "I'm so sorry. I am so sorry."
Even the judge said he had never seen anything like it.
"I don't think I've ever seen the wife of a victim hug the defendant where they killed somebody," he said.
Tillman pleaded guilty to charges including homicide by vehicle, DUI, and reckless driving.
He was sentenced to 20 years, with prison time suspended if he completes a two-year inpatient rehab program.
The Johnsons were married for 50 years.
