KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. (WBTV) - Law enforcement has responded to an ongoing situation at the Holiday Inn Express in Kings Mountain.

According to the Kings Mountain Police Department, officers were called to the hotel on Woodlake Parkway around 8:05 a.m. Saturday for a well-being check related to a missing person report filed on Friday, August 8, in South Carolina.

When officers arrived, police said the person was found in a room at the hotel with a gun. For safety, police said officers immediately retreated and evacuated the surrounding areas within the hotel.

The Kings Mountain Police Department and the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office are on scene. Negotiations with the person are actively underway.

As a precautionary measure, police said Woodlake Parkway has been closed on both sides
