LAFAYETTE, LA (KLFY) – A house fire broke out in Lafayette in the 100 block of S. Meyers Drive at 12:24 a.m. last night, firefighters said.
According to firefighters, the owners were alerted by their alarm system being activated. After evacuating the residence, the fire was discovered on the side of the dwelling. The owners reported that smoke was coming from the eaves of the home.
When firefighters arrived on scene the fire progressed through the roof of the dwelling. Emergency crews entered the attic and prohibited the fire from spreading.
The single-family dwelling sustained moderate fire damage to the storage room and roof. The interior of the home had water and smoke damage, firefighters reported.
