NORTH PLAINS Ore. (KPTV) - A train derailment on Saturday partially blocked access to the city of North Plains, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO).

Shortly before 12:30 p.m., a Portland & Western train derailed on the train tracks along Main Street, just south of Northwest Hillcrest Street, according to authorities and a P&W spokesperson.

WCSO said the derailment happened when a train car carrying grain tipped and hit a parked rail car, also carrying grain.

According to the P&W spokesperson, six cars were derailed. Two were carrying grain and four were empty.

WCSO said that no liquid was spilled, but a hazmat team responded to the scene out of precaution.

Access to the city of North Plains is available via Gordon Road.

No injuries have been reported.
