Princess Anne , the only daughter of the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip , decided to make a historic change ahead of her 75th birthday, switching up her hairstyle for what is reportedly the first time in 50 years.

A week before the princess' 75th birthday on Aug. 15, Buckingham Palace released an official portrait of Anne with her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence , taken on July 8 at a banquet at Windsor Castle in honor of French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte .
