HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Henriette has regained strength and is once again a tropical storm, according to the National Hurricane Center, but is not expected to have a direct impact on Hawaii.
In data valid at 11 a.m. Saturday, Henriette had maximum sustained winds of 40 miles per hour with higher gusts.
It was located about 485 miles east-northeast of Hilo and 630 miles east of Honolulu, and was moving to the west-northwest at 16 miles per hour.
The forecast track has Henriette turning to the northwest, which will keep it far northeast of the islands Sunday.
The tropical cyclone is expected to strengthen a bit more over the next few days as it moves over warmer ocean waters. However, it is also in an area of drier air, which should keep it from strengthening into a hurricane. https:
