HONOLULU (Island News) -- Police are searching for a suspect after a man received severe burns to his face in an acid attack in Chinatown on Friday night.

The Honolulu Police Department received reports of a 30-year-old man who was crossing the street in Chinatown when an unknown man approached him then threw an unidentified liquid in his face. The victim was left with severe burns.

The suspect is described as being approximately 6-feet tall, wearing a blue fitted shirt and a durag, with a camera around his neck and carrying a red bottle.

The victim was transported to an emergency room in critical condition. The liquid was identified as sulfuric acid by the Honolulu Fire Department.
