SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – Santa Fe issued an emergency proclamation to request state funding for the storm damage affecting city infrastructure the night of July 31. The formal declaration was issued on Friday, August 8.
The overnight storm left significant damage around Santa Fe, including a section of a collapsed sidewalk at Corte De Princesa and Camino Consuelo. City leaders report receiving between two and three inches of rain, which they haven't seen since 2018.
"We did have a sidewalk collapse over a large covert, which also runs against [the] arroyo," Santa Fe Emergency Management Interim Director Kyle Morgan said. "There were large water flows in the arroyo, which overwhelmed the capacity of the covert, which then caused some cascading problems, including a total sidewalk failure."
