ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office says a state trooper was struck by a vehicle on I-26 while conducting a traffic stop Sunday morning.
Deputies say the incident occurred around 2 a.m. near the 166-mile marker in Orangeburg County. The trooper was conducting a traffic stop on the interstate when and was struck by another vehicle.
Dep. Rene Williams said the driver of the vehicle was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.
The condition of the state trooper remains unknown.
The Lexington County Reconstruction Team is investigating the incident.
