ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Atlanta News First is learning more about fallen DeKalb County Police Officer David Rose, who was killed in the line of duty Friday while responding to reports of an armed gunman outside the CDC campus on Clifton Road.

Officer Rose joined the DeKalb County Police Department in September 2024 and graduated from the police academy in March 2025.

During his graduation ceremony, he spoke passionately about his calling to serve.

“Today we stand here as the proud few who made it through one of the most challenging, demanding, and life-changing experiences of our lives,” Rose said while addressing his fellow graduates.
