A paedophile trucker who sexually abused a young girl has been freed from prison this week after serving just over two years for his crimes.

Edwin Darby, now aged 69, was released from jail on Monday, August 4 - gaining freedom before his young victim has been able to even receive trauma care because of long waiting lists.

The move has sparked fury with the victim's mum, who said it "makes no sense."

The girl's mother, who cannot be named for legal reasons, told BirminghamLive her daughter was still waiting for trauma therapy as she continues to suffer flashbacks, nightmares and sleepwalking.

Meanwhile, the sex offender has now served his sentence and is free to walk the streets.
