NORMAL ( 25News Now ) - Illinois State University is unveiling a new look for its longtime mascot Reggie Redbird, but if social media comments are any indication, it might take a while for ISU sports fans to appreciate Reggie’s transformation.

A release from ISU Athletics said the new Reggie "blends decades of passion and pride, bringing Illinois State’s brand to life with bolder, more expressive features. It reflects a stronger, more athletic image while preserving the playful spirit fans have loved for over 40 years."

Director of Athletics Dr. Jeri Beggs said the new, modern Reggie “embraces the changes we see today in college athletics.”
