Swansea City boss Alan Sheehan was left disappointed that his side conceded to a set-piece, after what he called a game of fine margins.

Dael Fry headed home Morgan Whittaker’s 51st-minute corner to give Boro the lead on the opening day at the Riverside against Sheehan’s Swans. And in a game that lacked much quality from either side, that one goal proved enough, as Boro’s recent emphasis on attacking set-pieces paid off.

Reacting after the game, a frustrated Sheehan said: “It was a very tight game, decided by a set-piece. Both defences were probably on top. First half was fine. I thought we had the better opportunities without creating a lot of them. We knew, with a new manager, there was going to be a bounce and emotion around the ground. I think we controlled that quite well.
