Firefighters were called to a major fire in Coventry yesterday (August 9). It happened on Far Gosford Street .

Crews from Coventry and Binley were dispatched at around 12.25pm on Saturday. Police were also called and blocked off part of Far Gosford Street .

It was reportedly cordoned off near Sainsburys Local. Crews found that a fire had taken hold on the third floor of Gosford Gate.

Students were reportedly evacuated from the building. Nobody was believed to have been injured.

Firefighters tackled the blaze using hose reel jets. It was extinguished by around 2pm, and the building was fully ventilated.

Officials told CoventryLive the blaze started accidentally, but the cause has yet to be determined. Crews left the scene at around 3pm.
