Drivers have been warned to avoid the M6 near Coventry after a serious crash today (August 10). It happened at around 2.30pm.

National Highways says the M6 (Northbound) in Warwickshire is closed between J1 near Rugby and J2 near Coventry . Traffic has been stopped, and major delays are expected into the evening.

Paramedics and the Air Ambulance have reportedly been dispatched. One person is believed to be seriously injured.

Motorists have been advised to take the exit to the A462 at M6 J1 and continue along the A426 to its junction with the A5. After this, they should exit to the A5 and continue to its junction with the M69 J1, take the exit to the M69, and continue to M6 J2.
