What started as a passion project between a Franklin-based husband and wife 20 years ago has grown into a community staple in the downtown Franklin community.
When Joel and Carol Tomlin got married and blended their two families of seven children, they made a promise to one another that after their nest emptied, they would find careers they both loved. In July 2005, their search led them to create Landmark Booksellers in Downtown Franklin.
"My wife was in education, and I was in real estate. We agreed that when our youngest graduated high school, we were gonna try and find something to do together,” Joel Tomlin explained, noting that inspiration hit when a Green Hills bookshop the couple frequented announced its closure.
Dad’s Old Bookstore offered the couple the perfect opportunity.
