KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - First responders in East Tennessee will honor those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001 with a memorial stair climb.

It will take place at 9:00 a.m. on Sept. 11, 2025 at Covenant Health Park. This is the first time the event will be at the new stadium.

The 2025 Knoxville 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb honors 343 firefighters, 60 law enforcement officers and eight paramedics who made the ultimate sacrifice by climbing the equivalent 110 stories, the same number of stories as the World Trade Center towers.

A bell will toll as each fallen hero’s name is read aloud.

The event will be emceed by State Sen. Becky Duncan Massey.

Proceeds from the event go to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. The nonprofit supports first responders and their families and work
