COLUMBUS — Here we go again.

The inability to reach a bipartisan compromise on Ohio's congressional map in 2022 means state lawmakers will soon be back at it to redraw district lines that would stay in place through 2030.

Ohio was already on this trajectory long before Texas opened a can of worms by calling a special session with the intention of prematurely redrawing its districts under pressure from President Trump for states to help Republicans retain control of the U.S. House of Representatives in 2026.

And again, absent support from Democrats, Republicans could pass a map that might add one or two GOP opportunities to what is now a 10-5 congressional delegation.
