KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Kansas City Police Department has opened an investigation into a teenager’s death Saturday night.

The shooting happened around 10 p.m. on August 9 near E 36th Street and Norton Avenue.

Officers were dispatched to the area on a reported shooting and were led to a home where they found a teen girl inside with a gunshot wound.

The teen was unresponsive and taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her identity has not yet been released.

Investigators say she was hit by gunfire from outside the home. They do not have any suspects at this time and are investigating her death as a homicide.
