As the UK braces for another heatwave, the Met Office has warned that "thundery showers" could hit parts of the country next week.

Temperatures are expected to soar to the mid-30s in southern parts of England on Tuesday (August 12), sparking health officials to issue yellow heat health alerts across much of the country.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued a 54-hour-long heat alert in Yorkshire and the Humber, East Midlands, West Midlands, East of England, London, the South East and South West.

The alert, which means significant impacts are possible across health and social care services due to the high temperatures, comes into effect from 12pm on Monday (August 11) until 6pm on Wednesday (August 13).
