PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — We've been talking about the summer heat on the rise and making its way to the Portland-Vancouver area. Well, the wait is over --- Sunday is the day that this extreme heat tips off.

A KOIN 6 Weather Alert goes into place Sunday and Monday. We want folks to be weather aware and understand that potentially dangerous heat remains in the forecast across much of the northern part of the Willamette Valley and beyond.

Portland metro temperatures are expected to be abnormally high and rise into the upper 90s. Triple-digit heat also isn't out of the question for some across western Oregon and southwest Washington.

With the extreme heat starting Sunday, highs will remain in the 90s through Tuesday before slightly cooler than average conditions return by the middle of next
