A London Hydro outage left hundreds of homes and businesses in the dark – and without air conditioning – during a brutal afternoon stretch of the latest heat wave to hit the city this summer.

As of 1:30 p.m. Sunday, the agency’s online outage map was showing scores of customers without power in the city’s north and west ends. The areas affected included Masonville, Medway, Stoney Creek and “West London,” according to the map.

“The outages appear to be heat-related, causing equipment malfunction. We’re working with Hydro One and attempting to isolate the affected areas to restore power to the majority of affected customers,” officials wrote on social media Sunday afternoon.
