PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A series of crashes, including a separate hit-run on the Morrison Bridge, left five Bridge Pedal cyclists hospitalized Sunday morning, authorities said.

The hit-run crash was reported just before 8:30 a.m., when Portland police said a cyclist - an adult man - going westbound on the way to the Providence Bridge Pedal was hit by a car, which then left the scene.

According to PPB, officers who were already working at the Bridge Pedal event did "extensive area checks" for the driver, but were unable to find him.

The cyclist was taken to a trauma center with serious injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening, police said.
