EUGENE — With Daylen Austin ’s legal battle temporarily on hold, the Oregon defensive back can focus on the upcoming season for the time being.
The Oregon Supreme Court granted a motion to delay Austin’s criminal trial Friday afternoon until it decides a requested review of the motion to dismiss the indictment. The trial, for felony hit and run, was scheduled to begin Thursday in Lane County Circuit Court.
“First I had to get a little bit more clarification on what exactly that all meant,” Oregon coach Dan Lanning said regarding the approved delay, which came hours after the lower court denied the same request. “There’s still a run ahead of us in some ways with this whole process. But, I support Daylen, going to let the process continue to play out.”
