GUNTER, Texas (KTEN) – With golden scissors in hand, Gunter ISD officially opened the doors to its newest building: Gunter Elementary School.
Located on Preston Crossing Drive, the new school will house just under 500 students ranging from Pre-K through 5th grade.
The school features a pod-system design that encourages collaboration --grouping students of similar ages together with shared common spaces.
“We teach them techniques, we teach them academics, but here in Gunter, our primary focus is teaching them to be of high-quality character,” said Gunter Elementary School Principal Eric Davis.
The building includes four classrooms per grade level, additional classroom space for growth in student population, and a turf-filled central courtyard designed for both recreation and reading.
