LOS ANGELES — When the Dodgers make the short trip to Anaheim to face the Angels beginning Monday night, a pair of rehabbing relievers will get some work in at Angel Stadium.
Kirby Yates threw a bullpen session on Sunday at Dodger Stadium, his second in three days, and will face live hitters in a simulated game on Wednesday in Anaheim. Yates, who has been out since August 1 with lower back pain, might be the first relief pitcher to return. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Sunday that Yates after facing hitters on Wednesday would likely begin a minor league rehab assignment.
Michael Kopech won’t be too far behind that pace, as he’s facing hitters in Anaheim before Monday’s game, and will also pitch a simulated game later in the week. A rehab assignment could start after that for Kopech,
