Double-A Tulsa Drillers outfielder Chris Newell was named Texas League player of the week on Monday, the second such honor for the Dodgers minor leaguer this season.
Newell drove in at least one run in all five games he played at Corpus Christi, hitting .500/.542/.850 with two home runs, a double, seven runs scores, six RBI, and even stole three bases. He had four multi-hit games and had an extra-base hit in all three weekend games, including home runs on both Friday and Sunday.
Friday was Newell’s best game of the week, reaching base four times with a home run, two walks, and a single, and he stole two bases.
