With Charlotte the only option for direct commercial flights out of Lynchburg Regional Airport, officials with the airport are making pitches to other airlines to add flights in and out of the Hill City.

American Airlines’ regional carrier, American Eagle, is currently the only airline that serves Lynchburg. American provides five or six flights per day on 50-seat airplanes to Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

An airline will look at potential risks and how to offset them when considering moving into a new market, Margaret Muir, air service development consultant for the airport, said at the Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance’s breakfast meeting on Wednesday.
