SEATTLE, Wash. – Imports through the Port of Seattle and Tacoma have dropped significantly, causing concern for businesses across Washington.
The Northwest Seaport Alliance reported a 26 percent year-over-year drop in international imports. This is a nearly 25 percent decline from the previous week.
Port officials highlighted the impact on small businesses and consumers, with fewer goods coming in and fewer outbound shipping options for Washington's agricultural products.
New tariffs are contributing to the issue, pushing up prices. Some goods are now costing up to 20 percent more at the border.
