LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - If you’re a parent of a student who owns a cellphone, House Bill 1481 is now law in the state of Texas.

This law prohibits student use of personal communication devices, which include cell phones, tablets, smartwatches, and other devices capable of telecommunication or digital communication on school property during the school day.

This law doesn’t apply to electronic devices provided to a student by the district.

Laredo Independent School District is telling parents to make sure their student has their phones put away in their backpacks.
