MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) - According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is the most common type diagnosed in women.

After the disease impacted one of their own, the Myrtle Beach Fire Department continues to raise money to help in the fight against cancer.

On Sunday morning, the department hosted its annual Rhonda Brown Memorial Golf Tournament, named after a former administrative assistant who died in 2012.

"She's fantastic," said Captain Jonathan Evans with the MBFD. "She was a second mother to many of us during that time."

"A lot of people move here away from their families, " said Captain Dwayne Harris with the MBFD. "And she truly was the mother, and she looked out for a lot of people."
