A pedestrian was killed Sunday afternoon in a train crash near the 2900 block of Walmsley Boulevard in Chesterfield County.
Authorities did not immediately release the victim’s identity, pending notification of next of kin.
Police said that at 4:16 p.m. a train travelling south struck the man on the tracks between Walmsley Boulevard and Castlewood Road. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities temporarily closed Walmsley Boulevard between Willesden Road and Caldwell Avenue. The Virginia Department of Transportation said just after 6:30 that the road was open.
