Illinois Gov. Deflects Criticism Over State’s “F”-Rated Congressional Map, Claims Texas Republicans Violate Voting Rights Without Evidence

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D) faced questioning Sunday on NBC’s Meet the Press over his state’s heavily gerrymandered congressional map, deflecting criticism by accusing Texas Republicans of attempting to “steal seats” in their own redistricting efforts.

Host Kristen Welker pressed Pritzker on Illinois’ controversial redistricting plan, which eliminated two Republican-held House seats ahead of the 2022 midterms.

The map, signed into law by Pritzker in 2021, has been widely panned by nonpartisan watchdog groups, including Common Cause, which called it a “nearly perfect model for everything that can go wrong with redistricting.” Princeton Univers
