The Rays continue their 12-game journey against the A’s on Monday evening
TAMPA, Fla. – The Rays were five games behind the Mariners for the third and final American League wild-card spot when they commenced a four-city, 12-game trip Monday in Anaheim. Halfway through the trip, and following a 6-3 loss Sunday in Seattle where they were swept in a three-game series and where former Tampa Bay fan favorite Randy Arozarena went 5-for-12 and scored three runs, they find themselves 5.5 games behind, not the scorching M’s, but the Yankees.
The Mariners are on a seven-game win streak and are within a half game of the Astros in the American League West, so they have their sights on something much larger than nailing down a wild-card spot.
